Nottinghamshire County Council is the upper-tier local authority for the non-metropolitan county of Nottinghamshire in England and employs over 7,500 permanent staff.
The County Council wanted to incorporate e-learning into L&D - increasing engagement and uptake among staff - particularly with mandatory training. It also wanted an access point for staff into a career development portal, giving their people access to a wide learning & development offer, available in a single place.
The starting point was getting a data feed in place with their payroll system to manage movers, leavers and joiners, improving the quality of user accounts with structured information and greatly reducing the administrative burden on the Council.
The LMS called, ‘My learning, My career’, was refreshed and rebranded for synergy with their intranet site and overall brand. It launched with a considerable amount of interest due to an exciting promotional campaign, supported by pop up shops throughout the county.
Learners now have a clear route into the site and access to courses for upskill and development. The previously onerous process of classroom booking has also been streamlined, with a direct link to training courses with spaces, resulting in seamless management of classroom bookings and an efficient blended development programme.
It’s still at early stages, but already the County Council can see multiple benefits, including increased user engagement and reduced admin burden in the L&D department.
